A Message to Garcia paints a good picture about integrity and how when you are told to do something, you should do it. The message also demonstrates that times have not really changed since 1899, when the letter was written. I appreciate the example Elbert Hubbard uses of how Rowan was supposed to deliver a letter to Spanish general, General Garcia. Rowan is the role model of how a good worker should respond when their boss asks them to do a task for them. I believe everyone should live by the code 'Carry a Message to Garcia.' In today's world, the workplace is a competitive place. If your boss does not see you work and get tasks done, then you will not be chosen for promotions and raises compared to a very hard worker. A hard worker does not slack on the job, he does not talk back to his superiors, and he simply does what he is asked of. Another sign of a good worker and leader is that they take initiative when working on a team. Elbert Hubbard in my opinion is not a cra

Human Geography Day 2 8.30.17

Mr. Schick took attendance and then checked blogger.com if everyone had successfully created their own blog. I was the unfortunate who did not successfully create a blogger account despite attempting to create one. Mr. Schick later went on to explain in further detail the class syllabus. There will be no extra credit given in this course. Mr. Schick placed importance on how we must turn in our work and assignments on time. For the first day an assignment is late one letter grade or ten percent will be deducted. Then we talked about materials that will be needed for the class. Each student will necessitate the following items: a personal computer with internet access, a composition note book and pen or pencil, and an open mind. we will be given some projects throughout the year which we will be able to work in groups on. Mr. Schick does not allow cell phones to be in pockets. Towards the end of the class Mr. Schick and I attempted once more to successfully log onto my blogger website us
My first day at John Carroll was excellent. The day was filled with many new experiences and adventures. My first class was Honor Human Geography with Mr. Schick. Mr. Schick scolded a student for arriving late in a humorous way. He then went on to tell us about the class syllabus and his expectations for us. Next I had Honors Spanish with Mrs. Michael. I felt a little lost when all she did was speak Spanish. My next destination was advisory. This was the easiest ten minutes of the day. My advisor, Mrs Markel handed out cookies and talked to us a little bit. The next class on my schedule was Honors English with Mrs. Zurkowski. We handed our summer reading work and did an activity to get to know the students in our class better. Next I was headed to my first STEM Meeting of the year instead of the cafeteria like everyone else. Mr. Monaghan seemed like a very fun person to do STEM with. He has lots of experience in the field. Next up, my first math class, Honors Algebra 2 with Ms. Pleiss.
